Mountain Lion Trouble on Christmas
I Always like to keep up on the various attacks on livestock by Mountain Lions here in California...As I have said before "Things that can kill and eat you always fascinate me" Here's the Story: On December 25, 2009, Christmas morning, Kenny Goff of Whitethorn, along with his son, Scott, and granddaughter, Kaylee, went out to ride their horse on their property, only to find it mutilated by a vicious attacker (later confirmed by the Dept. of Fish and Game to be a mountain lion).
The horse had suffered injuries that made it impossible to do anything other than to end its suffering. This was a traumatizing situation for our entire family.
Our hope is that no one else would ever have to endure such a horrific event. We would like to inform the general public to be aware that there are cougars in the immediate and surrounding areas and to take precautionary measures. Since our unfortunate occurrence, we have learned of other recent sightings and mauling of livestock. Please take note so as to avoid a similar situation. This was Posted in the Redwood Times out of Garberville...
